The Alpha-1 Foundation was excited to convene a Building Friends for a Cure (BFC (Building Friends for a Cure)) Training on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts. The BFC Program is centered on facilitating and empowering the Alpha-1 community to increase awareness and raise funds to support the Foundation’s research mission by providing the tools for fundraising success all while building and maintaining relationships in the community.
Participants of the training joined the Celtic Connection event committee to prepare for the largest annual BFC event in the country. The success of this 16-year-old event is due to the dedication of the volunteers that work tirelessly each year. It was a perfect way to get hands-on training leading into the workshop including silent auction set-up and close-out, décor set-up and registration.
Individuals from around the country that had a special connection to Alpha joined this great workshop. Their passion has stemmed from support groups, children and advocacy. Thank you to Brian and Kara and Brian Hodges (League City, Texas), Karin and Michael Pittsley (Dighton, Massachusetts), Nora Kemmerer (Omaha, Nebraska), Chelsea Boring (Colon, Nebraska), Erin Carr (Davidson, North Carolina), Siobhan Lestina (O’Fallon, Missouri) and Lynn Soriano (Commack, New York) for being the 2024 BFC Training Graduates.
Use your passion to drive our mission! What are your hobbies? How can you use them to create a successful fundraiser? The workshop guided trainees through the steps on how do just that.
