Vaccines remain the best public health measure to protect people from COVID-19; slow transmission; and reduce the likelihood of new variants emerging. Importantly, current vaccines are expected to protect against severe illness, hospitalizations, and deaths due to infection.
New Updates from the CDC:
CDC Recommends Second Dose of 2024-2025 COVID-19 Vaccine for People 65 Years and Older and for People Who are Moderately or Severely Immunocompromised: https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2024/s1023-covid-19-vaccine.html
REMEMBER TO TAKE EVERYDAY PREVENTATIVE ACTIONS that are always recommended to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses:
New CDC recommendation: Keep your home and workplace well-ventilated or, if that’s not possible, use a HEPA-filter air purifier in rooms you use most or in your heating system if it uses forced air.
Avoid close contact with people with respiratory illnesses.
While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible.
Stay home if you are sick.
Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands; germs spread this way.
Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub with at least 60% alcohol.
