Want to learn how to make your voice heard to change public policy while raising awareness for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency?
REGISTER NOW for the Alpha-1 Advocacy Summer Series!
The patient voice matters most; you can help influence the outcome of legislation and make a difference for yourself, loved ones and for the Alpha-1 community. We have created an exciting four-part webinar series that will culminate with a Virtual Lobby Day in September. The key to effective advocacy is knowing the process, the issue, goals, facts, strategy, who will make a difference in the success or failure of the campaign.
The Advocacy Webinar Summer Series will kick off this Wednesday, August 5th at 3pm ET with “Advocacy 101; Your Voice Matters” presented by Miriam O’Day, President & CEO of the Alpha-1 Foundation. Tune in to learn about how you can make a difference and come with all of your advocacy questions.
The series will continue on Wednesdays; be sure to tune in to hear “Advocacy- Collaborations to further our mission” (August 12 ) where we will be joined by representatives from coalitions and membership organizations in the rare disease sector. We will continue the series with “Advocating for your priorities” on August 19 and “Lobby Day At-A- Glance” on September 9.
This series will lead up to the highly anticipated Virtual Lobby Day where you will get to tell your Alpha-1 story to district representatives that make the decisions that impact public policy. Grassroots advocacy personalizes the issues that matter most to YOU, empowering YOU to inform legislators and state and federal agencies that may not be familiar with Alpha-1 and YOUR critical needs.
What is a Virtual Lobby Day?
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to shift our traditional fly-in meetings that were scheduled for March 2020 with government representatives to a virtual platform. We are working with new and different tools to continue achieve our advocacy goals. A virtual lobby day allows the Alpha-1 Foundation to gather the community around the latest issues, and provides a channel to have your voice heard, highlight the priorities to both supporters and key lawmakers while taking action to make a difference. A Virtual Lobby Day is just as effective, and the bonus is that even more people can participate from the safety of their homes.
The Alpha-1 Foundation is proud to support the following public policy priorities each and every day for you, the Alpha:
- Research
- New Therapeutics
- Targeted Screening and Detection
- Access to Care
- Blood Product Safety
- Education, Outreach and Awareness
Our public policy program is supported by our corporate partners: AlphaNet, CSL Behring, Grifols and Takeda.
