(MIAMI, FL) – The Alpha-1 Foundation is excited to announce our guest speaker, Sally Struthers, for the “All in for Alpha-1: A Celebration” fundraiser on June 10th at 6:00 PM ET. Joining us at this special event will be members of the Alpha-1 Community, medical professionals, researchers and our industry partners for a night of fun.
Sally Struthers earned a series role in the early 1970s and became a solid part of TV history as a member of a dysfunctional family quartet in the milestone sitcom, “All in the Family”. Struthers went on to win two supporting Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe nominations as Gloria Stivic.
She made her Broadway debut in “Wally’s Café” in 1981. Over the years she has patented the by-the-book principal “Miss Lynch”, with her many “Grease” tours, and as the scheming orphanage director “Miss Hannigan” in a number of road productions of “Annie.” She went on to receive a Los Angeles “Ovation” award for her delightfully over-the-top “Agnes Gooch” in “Mame”, and in 2012, she performed in “Always…Patsy Cline” as Louise Segar, and “9 to 5: The Musical” as nosy Roz Klein. In 2014, Struthers toured in the 50th anniversary production, in the title role, of “Hello, Dolly!”
Sally guest starred in many TV shows, most notably as the hysterical Babette Dell on “Gilmore Girls”. For years, Sally was a prime spokesperson for the Christian Children’s Fund on TV, fervently appealing for assistance in finding an end to starvation in under-developed countries.
We are honored to have Ms. Struthers share with the Alpha-1 Community her experiences and positive outlook. We are looking forward to a memorable evening raising much needed awareness and funds to help find a cure for Alpha-1.
