MAY 1, 2025- “I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream for Alpha-1”. The Alpha-1 Foundation (A1F) is proud to launch its newest nationwide fundraising campaign, Ice Cream for Alpha-1. This campaign is part of the A1F Building Friends for a Cure (BFC) program, a community fundraising program that fosters the Alpha-1 community to get involved to raise awareness and funds for Alpha-1 with their friends and family.
Ice Cream for a Cure is a fun, family friendly way to support the A1F mission and make a difference. Host or join an Ice Cream for Alpha-1 fundraiser by bringing your community together to enjoy delicious treats while raising awareness and funds for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1). A1F has made it simple for anyone to get their fundraiser started just gather some ice cream, toppings, and a group of people and A1F will provide all the tools needed to make your fundraiser a success!

Since 2005, the BFC program has become a cornerstone of Alpha-1 awareness and fundraising, touching lives across the country. These community fundraisers have not only raised funds for Alpha-1 research and programs but also educated and empowered participants with valuable Alpha-1 knowledge. The BFC events are held virtually and in-person, making it easy to fundraise for Alpha-1 and share your story. The program’s influence extends beyond the patient community. By involving physicians, researchers, and industry partners, the BFC program offers a unique opportunity for stakeholders to gain firsthand insight into life with Alpha-1.
The campaign was created from the vision of successful BFC ice cream fundraisers around the country over many years. Thank you to the vision of Judy and Ken Simon, Peg Iverson, Nora Kemmerer and Chelsea Boring. The A1F staff kicked off the summer campaign in the Coral Gables, Florida office with some yummy ice cream wearing the new T-Shirts that participants will receive with their donation.
The Ice Cream for a Cure campaign joins two other signature A1F BFC annual fundraisers, A1F Riding for a Reason & Escape to the Cape and A1F Virtual Walk. These three annual events provide unique ways for the Alpha-1 community to join our mission easily at different times of the year.
