Community Honors Lorraine Cimino at 3rd Annual Walk Benefiting the Alpha-1 Foundation

The 3rd Annual Walk in Memory of Lorraine Cimino to benefit the Alpha-1 Foundation (A1F), held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Brooklyn, New York, brought family, friends, and supporters together for a beautiful day of remembrance, connection, and giving back in honor of a beloved wife, mother, aunt, and friend.

Hosted by Mario and Santo Cimino, this year’s fundraiser was filled with sunshine, laughter, and heartfelt moments as attendees gathered to celebrate Lorraine’s life while supporting the A1F mission. In addition to the annual walk, participants enjoyed a fun kickball game, with teams split into purple and white using shirts from the past two events to create a meaningful and spirited tradition.

“Every day, we all think of and miss Lorraine, but it is extra special to be able to come together once a year to honor her memory,” shared the family. “Lorraine was someone who did so much for so many and always made everyone feel so loved, so we do our best to replicate her example.”

One especially touching highlight of the day was welcoming Richie Ramirez and his family, whose presence served as a powerful reminder of hope and progress in the Alpha-1 community. Ritchie is an Alpha-1 kid that received a lifesaving   liver transplant and is thriving. The family also extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, donated, and supported the event, as well as to A1F and Alpha-1 support group leader and advocate, Daniel Grimm, who attended for the second year in a row in support the cause and the Cimino family.

This year’s event raised an incredible $4,475, bringing the three-year fundraising total to over $17,000 in support of the A1F mission to improve the lives of those affected by Alpha-1 and help find a cure.

In a truly special moment, Mario shared that on the morning of the event, while feeling a little stressed pulling everything together, he received an unexpected Instagram notification. A relative had “liked” an old comment Lorraine made back in 2021, causing the app to pair the notifications together into one message that simply read: “Love you so much!!!!!” It felt like Lorraine’s way of reminding them that everything would be okay.

A beautiful sign from above and a fitting reminder that Lorraine’s love continues to be felt by all who knew her.
