The Alpha-1 Foundation had the pleasure of meeting Richie Ramirez at the Alpha-1 National Conference, where his passion and story left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Just a couple weeks later, Richie took that energy back home and hosted his very own Ice Cream for Alpha-1 event, proudly wearing his event t-shirt as he raised over $2,100 to support Alpha-1 awareness and research.
Then came the national spotlight, Richie appeared on CBS Mornings to share his incredible journey, from receiving a life-saving liver transplant at age 4 to becoming a young advocate for Alpha-1. Even more inspiring is his relationship with his organ donor, Brian, who not only saved Richie’s life but has donated two organs in total. The two have maintained a close bond, showing the profound, lifelong impact of organ donation. Richie’s story is a powerful reminder of the strength, hope, and connection within the Alpha-1 Community and how one person’s voice, and one donor’s gift, can change everything.
